Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, the Lumière brothers, and Fritz Lang — these are the familiar names of early film history. But it is exactly as that one absolutely dreadful British band from the seventies, whose name I can’t quite remember, once sang: who the fuck is Alice?

Freely inspired by Virginia Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own and Jean-Luc Godard’s Two or Three Things I Know About Her, with music from Lili Boulanger’s song cycle Clairières dans le ciel.
